What happens at the first appointment?
- At the start of the first appointment you will be given a 15-minute consultation free of charge to discuss any health problems or aches and pains.
- If you have never had a massage before and are feeling a bit nervous, you can bring a friend along who can relax and have a cup of tea whilst you are being pampered.
- For the Indian head massage it is advisable to wear a vest top as it includes a shoulder massage.
- The pregnancy and hot stone treatments are full body massages therefore you will need to undress. You will be covered with soft towels, which are turned back to reveal only the area being massaged at that time. E.g. back, shoulders, arms or legs.
What happens after the treatment?
- You will be advised to drink plenty of water to flush out toxins that are broken down and released into the circulation during massage.
What if I have a certain medical condition, am I suitable for a massage?
- There are few medical conditions where massage is not advisable or may need to be discussed with your GP. All massages are tailor-made taking into consideration any problems you have. Do not hesitate to phone or e-mail us with any questions that concern you.
What happens if I am unable to attend my appointment?
- Please give as much notice as possible before cancelling an appointment. You can phone, leave a message or send an e-mail.
- If you feel ill on the day of the appointment please rebook, as it is not advisable to have a massage if you are feeling unwell or have a temperature.
What treatments can I have if I am pregnant?
- The pregnancy massage and the Indian Head massage are both suitable from 3 months of pregnancy onwards. For insurance reasons unfortunately we are unable to offer any massages until after the first trimester.
- A few hot stones can be incorporated into the pregnancy massage for muscles that particularly ache. However it is not advisable to receive a full body massage with hot stones, as we do not want to raise your core body temperature during pregnancy.
